Monastery Tour

Nepal has been an important pilgrimage site for both Hindu and Buddhists pilgrims. The birthplace of Gautama Buddha – ‘Lumbini’ have made it more important. Similarly Nepal have been a paradise for the Hindu followers too due to the presence of important temples like Pashupatinath, Guweswari, Muktinath, Manakamana and so many others. Nepal has been a peaceful country all the religions have been existing in each other’s mutual respect and there has not been any conflict for many centuries.

The intresting facts are that there are some temples and stupas that are equally important to both of the religions. In this special tour you will be visiting some of the most important Buddhist pilgrimage sites namely Swyambhunath, Boudhanath, Kapan Monastery, Namobuddha and finally Lumbini. Swyambhunath and Boudhanath is the UNESCO world heritage site and are the most popular sites in whole Nepal. Kapan Monastery lies in Kapan VDC near to Boudhanath. It is famous for its teaching courses to the western foreigners and meditation sessions whereas Namobuddha lies towards eastern outskirts of Kathmandu in Dhulikhel with beautiful location providing wide Himalayan mountain views on its background. It is believed that Lord Buddha gave his life to a tiger and its cub here on his path of knowledge.  The most important site of this tour is the birth place of Buddha itself-Lumbini. Lumbini is located at Rupandehi District and is the exact spot where Mayadevi gave birth to Gautama Buddha. The main highlights of Lumbini are the Mayadevi temple, Ashoka pillar, sacred garden and pool. Numerous monasteries from various countries, ruins of the ancient temples and many more are also preserved in Lumbini.
