Annapurna Base Camp Trek

Annapurna Base Camp is located in the central north region of Nepal within the protected area of Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP). The Annapurna range is separated by Kali Gandaki Gorge (Deepest in the World) along with Dhaulagiri Range to the west where as Marsyangdi River along with Lamjung Himal Range to its east. Annapurna Base Camp is headed right below the giant Annapurna Massif (8091m) which is the tenth highest peak in the world. Machhapuchre base camp is also adjacent to Annapurna Base Camp providing some breathtaking scenario of Annapurna I (8901m), Annapurna II (7937m), Annapurna III (7555m), Annapurna South (7219m), Machhapuchre (6993m), Huinchuli (6441m) and many more mountains. The trek is a blend of diverse geographical and cultural variation providing an ultimate an exhilarating experience to any trekkers. It is a very easy trek with easy walks and climb passing through beautiful villages of Ghandruk, Ghorepani, Tadapani, Chommrung, Landrung etc. The trial passes through beautiful waterfall, terraced farmlands, dense rhododendron forests that add up more beauty to this trial. This region is rich in flora and fauna and trekkers might get lucky to encounter some of the rare species like snow leopard, barking deer, blue sheep, ghoral along with 478 species of birds found in this conservation area. This trek not only offers the natural beauty but also a unique cultural exchange of the Gurung community inhabited in most of the trekking spots. They are known among the area for their amazing hospitality to any guest or tourists. They have their own lifestyle, culture, customs, dress that can be observed during the trek. Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu

Day 2: Drive or fly from Kathmandu to Pokhara (820 m)

Day 3: Drive to Nayapul (1070 m) trek to Tikhedhunga (1540 m)

Day 4: Trek to Ghorepani (2860 m)

Day 5: Early morning at 5 AM trek to Poonhill (3210 m) and back to Ghorepani. After Breakfast trek to Tadapani. 

Day 6: Trek to Chhomrong (2170 m)

Day 7: Trek to Himalaya (2920)

Day 8: Trek to Annapurna Base Camp (4130 m)

Day 9: Trek to Bamboo (2310 m)

Trip Itinerary

    Day

    Arrival In Kathmandu

    A representative from Random Adventures will come to the Tribhuwan International Airport to pick you up and drop to your hotel.

    Day

    Drive or fly from Kathmandu to Pokhara (820 m)

    We will be heading to Pokhara either by flying or by drive. The flight will be for 25 minutes and it will take around 5-6 hours (200km) if we drive. We will be following the Prithivi highway along side of the Trisuli River. One can observe scenic views during the drive including the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges. Lunch spot will be on the way to Pokhara. Pokhara is one of the most beautiful cities of the whole nation. In the lap of Annapurna Himalayas and the iconic Machapuchhre (Mt. Fishtail), that reflects upon the water of the infamous Phewa Lake, this city truly exists to provide an awesome and lifetime experience. We will be staying in Pokhara and prepare ourselves for the trek that starts tomorrow.

    Day

    Drive to Nayapul (1070 m) trek to Tikhedhunga (1540 m)

    We will have an early morning drive to Nayapul from where our trekking starts, it will take around 1-1.5 hours to get there (42km). The trek from here to Tikhedhunga takes about 4-5 hours. Along the trial we will pass villages like Birethanti and Hile. You can observe the natural beauties along with very authentic cultural lifestyle of the people in that place. The trail is shared by the pony caravans which are the primary way of transporting goods and material to the higher places. We will be staying at Tikhedhunga at Teahouse Lodge.

    Day

    Trek to Ghorepani (2860 m)

    After breakfast we will start our trek towards Ghorepani. The trial starts getting more beautiful and adventures. We will pass through numerous suspension bridges and small villages along the way. After crossing the bridges the trial gets little bit steep till large magar village called Ulleri (2070m). During this climb Magnificent Annapurna South (7219m) and Mt. Fishtail (6997m) can be seen. This trial is filled with snow in winter season which add up more scenic views. It will take around 5-6 hours walk to reach Ghorepani form Tikhedhunga. The lunch will be served at Nangethanti which also means rest house. We stay in Ghorepani at teahouse Lodge.

    Day

    Early morning trek to Poonhill (3210 m) for sunrise view and back to Hotel. After breakfast trek to Tadapani (2630 m)

    The sunrise seen from Poonhill is breathtaking so we hike up to the top (3210m) around 1.5 hours early in the morning to observe the sunrise. On a clear day one can observe mountains like Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. The high mountains come so close that you feel like you can touch them with your own hands. The sunrise is also very spectacular and mesmerizing. The Mount Fishtail along with other mountains shines and sparkles as the sunlight rays hits it. After viewing the sunrise we hike back to Ghorepani for breakfast and get ready for our next destination i.e. Tadapani. Tadapani (2630m) is the main stopping point for trekkers between Ghorepani and Chhomrung. The trek starts with a short climb till Deurali. The trial passes through pine forest with occasional view of Annapurna South. The trial will then lower down till we reach Banthati and then to Ghorepani. This takes around 5 hours to reach Tadapani. We will stay at a teahouse lodge in Tadapani.

    Trek to Chhomrong (2170 m)

    After breakfast we leave Tadapani to reach Chhomrong, the trail descends and meets up to Tibuje Khola crossing both Chuile and Siprong pass. We will reach Chhomrong after walking for about 5-6 hours. We will be staying at a teahouse lodge in Tadapani.

    Day

    Trek to Himalaya (2920)

    We start our trek a bit early this day as we have a long distance to travel. It usually takes around 6-7 hours to reach Himalaya. The trial offers beautiful views of the Annapurna Sanctuary. The trial passes through a long suspension bridge and goes through dense bamboo, pine, oak and rhododendron forest dotted with ferns. The trial is a bit harder as compared to previous walk as it is further steeper. But you will have no difficulties if you walk in your own speed and enjoy the views of Mt. Fishtail. We will be staying at teahouse lodge in Himalaya.

    Trek to Annapurna Base Camp (4130 m)

    It takes around 6-7 hours to get to Annapurna Base Camp passing via Machapuchhre base Camp. You will be definitely amazed by the views seen in this trial. The Machapuchhre seems so close. Walking up the bed of the glacier is safe and quite easy and the British Expedition Base Camp is reached after another 1 and ½ a hr. Base Camp is at 4, 237 m. The trip is best done from the lower camp, carrying only lunch, and the best views are probably obtained from to the north. We will be staying at Annapurna Base Camp at Teahouse Lodge or Tented Camp.

    Day

    Trek to Bamboo (2310 m)

    Today, we return to Bamboo following the same trail back. Our trail drops by 1700m to the bank of Modi Khola to Bamboo at 2345m. You can find few teahouses/lodges available to stay at Bamboo. We stay overnight at a guesthouse.

    Day

    Bamboo to Jhinu danda(Hot Spring ,1780m)

    After the breakfast we start our trek down to Jhinu danda through stones steps most of the time. We will be at Chomrong one more time while we trek down to Jhinu danda. As soon as we reach Jhinu danda we will be going to hot spring to become fresh and relax for sometimes.

    Trek to Nayapul and drive back to Pokhara by private Car / Taxi

    We will be returning to Nayapul where our vehicles will be waiting for us. Then we drive to Pokhara and will be staying at Pokhara that night.

    Day

    Drive or fly back to Kathmandu

    We can either fly or drive back to Kathmandu according to your demand or choice. The flight will take approximately 30 minutes. The drive will last arond 5 hours following the Prithvi highway with the Trishuli River running alongside and the wonderful view of the surrounding hills.

    Final Departure

    Today a representative from Random Adventures will drop you at the Tribhuwan international Airport according to your flight schedule from where you will return to your further destination.
